Summer MLUG: Check out who's presenting what!

There's a month to go before the next Midlands LabVIEW User Group which is taking place on Wednesday 9th June 2021 from 1.00pm. We will be online again, the restrictions in the UK are starting to reduce, but for now we will stay virtual and we will see what the Autumn brings.

As always, we have a great line up with three presenters dialling in from different parts of the world. So here's what to expect from the event:

Luis Noites

Luis will be joining us from Portugal, where he works in the Faculty of Engineering at The University of Porto covering lots of different areas including:

  • Technologies: LabVIEW FPGA, LabVIEW RT, Linux for CRio, Python
  • Hardware: PXI, USB, CRio, FieldPoint, Optical interrogators
  • Sensors: LVDT, Extensometers, Inclinometer, Accelerometers and others

Title: LabVIEW - Python integration

In this presentation, Luis will talk about how to setup your environment to enable you to get started with Python in LabVIEW. He will also talk about the different Python libraries that are available and give some hints and tips on how to utilise this powerful combination. Finally, Luis will go through some exampls to share some practical insigths into how it all comes together.

Adam Todd

Adam earned a PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry at Durham University in 2010, and started working at CPI towards the end of 2017, after a few years hiatus from the workplace due to family matters.  He moved from a position in the Colloids team to High-Throughput a year later, where he's worked as a research scientist since.

Working in the High-Throughput team has given Adam a wide range of experience with all kinds of formulated products, and he's also had the opportunity to be involved with CPI’s vaccine research work during the pandemic.

He started learning the basics of LabVIEW a year ago, and is keen to learn more and find opportunities to use it within their work.

Title: LabVIEW in Formulation

Adam will be talking to us about the work that CPI does, and the work that he is doing with LabVIEW, focusing on why LabVIEW has been used. His focus will be on one of the instruments used by CPI which is controlled through LabVIEW MicroSTAR, how it works and what part LabVIEW has in bringing the instrument together.

Mark Ridgley

Title: Best Practices For Error Handling in LabVIEW

In this dynamic presentation, Mark, CLD, CTA, CPI, LabVIEW Champion and Owner of Radius Teknologies, LLC will cover the key aspects of error handling you should consider when developing a LabVIEW application. You’ll learn how to plan an error handling strategy, you’ll discover 8 different types of error handling and you’ll gain an appreciation of the importance of testing your error handling strategy. In addition, you’ll get to see some real-world examples illustrating some of the topics covered in the presentation.

So, how does that sound? If it has whet your appetite then sign up and we will see you there! The event is completely free, but you will need a login, which will be sent the morning of the meeting. You can also gain reaccreditation points from NI for attending, what's not to like!

If you have a topic that you would like to present at a future event, then get in touch with us to discuss.
