We go 'Inside Moog' thanks to Midlands Aerospace Alliance initiative

Last month Chris Woodhams, Managing Director of Argenta, had the opportunity to go ‘Inside Moog’, an event organised by the Midlands Aerospace Alliance, at their Wolverhampton i54 site. A range of interesting speakers gave a fascinating insight in to Moog’s capabilities as well as looking back at their history and their transformation in recent years.
Moog have a wide breadth of products with both military and civil application, which from the outside are pretty incomprehensible. However Chris had the opportunity to speak with Moog employees from the Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain departments in order to gain a complete understanding of the business.
As part of the visit the attendees were taken on a tour of the factory, which Chris found to be one of the most fascinating aspects of the day, “the opportunity to see the tools and techniques that are used to monitor and control quality, deliveries and efficiency was very impressive”.
Another positive element was the opportunity to network and gain exposure to those people who Argenta are looking to collaborate with on future projects. As MAA chief executive Dr Andrew Mair said: “We believe events like this are invaluable for aerospace suppliers. Our industry leaders like Moog’s Stuart Mclachlan who serve as directors on the board of the MAA willingly sponsor the events.”
